Design and Dimensions
One of the things that we look into when buying anything is the design and Dyson knew that which is why they came up with a unique design for all their home appliances including their air purifiers. The design of the TP01 is very different from other air purifiers or fans being sold in the market. The bladeless design of the TP01, unique to all Dyson air purifier fans, is what makes it stand out among other brands.
The TP01 is a tower fan that weighs 8.4 lbs and stands at 40 inches tall. And because it is tall, it can cover large spaces. It has a bladeless, narrow and oblong-shaped amplifier. It also has an LED display in front of its pedestal. It does not have any control buttons except for the power button below the display.
Without big fast-spinning blades, there’s no need for awkward grills blocking the amplifier making it easier for you to clean the machine with a cloth.
Air Multiplier Technology
Aside from being a well-known brand, Dyson also prides itself for their invention of the Air Multiplier technology. The Air Multiplier technology powers the TP01 and uses nine asymmetrically-aligned blades and a brushless electric motor which are all located inside the pedestal.
This state-of-the-art technology makes it possible for Dyson to get rid of visible fast-spinning blades, usually seen on traditional fans, which makes their fans look futuristic and sleek. However, the Air Multiplier technology is more than just for aesthetic purposes. It also amplifies surrounding air so the TP01 can project and circulate air across the room. The patented Air Multiplier technology also delivers 77 gallons per second of smooth and powerful airflow.
Performance and Safety
With the Air Multiplier technology alone, the TP01 is already a powerful machine. And with the addition of a high-quality air filtration system, it has become one of the best in the market in terms of improving air quality.
The TP01 is equipped with a 360 Glass HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of particles from the air including pollen, dust, allergens, and pet danders. It can also trap microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns. It is also fitted with Active Carbon that traps bad odors, gases, toxins, fumes, and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound). It has been certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America because it helps create a cleaner and healthier home by improving the air quality in your home.
The air purifier also has an oscillation of 70 degrees and has 10 Air Speed settings that you can choose from depending on your liking. Aside from the asthma and allergy certification, the TP01 also received the Quiet Mark accreditation which means the TP01 is a quiet machine but take note that it is not completely silent. The TP01 still makes whisper-like noises depending on the air speed setting of the machine.
Since it is a 2-in-1 machine, the TP01 not only serves as an air purifier, but it also serves as a fan. You can adjust the air speed setting for cooling on hot days. However, it is not capable of heating since it does not have any heating elements.
Modes and Control
As mentioned, the TP01 does not have any control buttons on its pedestal except for the power ON/OFF button. However, it comes with a curved, magnetic remote control that has all the control buttons you need: power button, air speed settings, oscillation control, and mode option. And because the remote control is magnetized, you can neatly store it on top of the TP01’s amplifier to avoid misplacing it.
As for the mode option, the TP01 only gets one and that is the Sleep Timer option which allows you to select the desired time and when it reaches zero, the Dyson TP01 automatically goes into standby mode.

While the TP01 is a great machine, it is not for everyone and I believe that there are other brands in the market that offer high-quality air purifiers at a cheaper price.
Elechomes EPI236 Pro Series
If you are on a budget, you may want to check out Elechomes EPI236 Pro Series Air Purifier. It is cheaper than the TP01 and it also uses high-quality filters like the True HEPA filter, Carbon filter, and Pre-filter. However, it is not a dual-function machine unlike the TP01.
Molekule Air Purifier
You can also check out Molekule’s Air Purifier with PECO Purification technology. It does not have any cooling functions but it is more advanced in terms of air purification. It supports WiFi connectivity and has a touch-screen display. And unlike the TP01 that uses Air Multiplier technology, it uses Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) nanotechnology to destroy viruses, VOCs, allergens, bacteria and mold.
The HP01 from Dyson’s Pure Hot + Cool Series offers more than just air purifying and cooling. Equipped with a heating element, the Dyson HP01 might be for you if you find yourself needing the occasional space heater. It has the same air filtration system as the TP01 and their only difference is its ability to serve as a heater.
